This panel presentation will bring together leaders across Yale and Connecticut to discuss how investments in a zero-carbon higher education and research campus are leading to, or could lead to, new partnerships and relationships with industry and government.
A few topics the presentation and discussion will cover include Yale’s investment in Geothermal systems and commitment to jobs training and skills development in partnership with Brightcore; boost to the local glass pozzolan industry through its specification as a cement substitute in newly poured concrete; changes to market carbon transparency through Yale’s embodied carbon reduction requirements and audits; and local clean electricity generation through the processing of Yale’s food waste in an anaerobic digester in Southington.
Presenters will highlight the ripple effects of Yale Facilities’ investments and commitments on Connecticut industries’ capacity to deliver climate solutions. Ultimately, the audience will be invited to envision how else Yale (and other similar institutions) might help transform its region’s capacity for climate action as it moves toward its 2050 carbon-free goal.
