Research to Impact

This event has passed.

Advancing efforts to reduce the cost of high-integrity monitoring, reporting, and verification.

Many open research questions relating to whether and how to scale carbon dioxide removal (CDR) cannot be answered via small-scale field trials but rather require deployment at increasing project scales to build external validity of evidence. Because traditional research funding cannot support these scaled deployments, YCNCC scientists have taken the innovative step to partner with corporate CDR credit buyers to leverage their sustainability investments to incorporate research objectives and data transparency requirements into their commercial CDR offtake purchases.

This morning’s second YCNCC session will explore how this “Research Through Deployment” can help advance efforts to achieve high-integrity monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) for enhanced weathering and other geochemical CDR that is financially operable at scale.
